Day 12 0524

Today we woke up at our usual time. We went to the skate park to scope the scene on where to put our new sign. We chose the path that we cleared off as our new sign location. It was perfect because we cleared it off for skaters to easily access, so why not help them find it easier. We went to Greg to grab screws and the electric drill just hang it up. Then we celebrated by skating with Ben and the boys. Malcom and Ben played S-K-A-T-E and Malcom won!

Weekly reflection #2 05/23

During the second week of our senior project, we had much more success with customizations on the sign and skate decks. Early on we cut the wood for the sign, gathered materials for our skate decks, and programmed the design for our sign. After a lot of work, we are very satisfied with what we have completed. The skatepark looks great, and we even found two students who are going to win skate decks. Also, not being a painter, I have found a ton of joy in the painting process with our boards. To add, I have come to enjoy skateboarding a lot more. We have had great times with Ben and some students during our project jamming out to MGK, skating, and sipping arizonas. I would have never liked MGK's music without being introduced through the skatepark. I landed an ollie for the first time and dropped in on the q-pipe. Nathan learned to pop-shuvit and drop in as well. Who knew Malcolm was such a great teacher! It's easy when he's been doing it for so long, I guess. I am very sat...

Day 11 05/23

Today, after a long Saturday of swimming and baseball, we woke up and grabbed brunch before heading to the art studio. I wrapped up my lean spill board, Nathan sharpied the wood stains, and Billy finished his skyline. They look dope! Next, we went to the skatepark so I could try and learn some moves. Malcolm showed me a step-by-step tutorial on the ollie and I got it, sort of. After many spills and falls, I landed a small ollie. The support from the boys was amazing and got me to do it!

Day 10 05/21

Today we finished our custom skate decks. It was senior day and got to see my family and everyone I love after the big win over Tilton. Earlier we went to Corby and Jill to finish up our skate decks. We wanted to varnish them but couldn't get around to it today. We will definitely get that done before giving them away to our two lucky winners!

Day 09 05/20

Today we got after our project early again. It was gameday so it felt nice to get up early and do our project. We went to Greg and gave him our sign to see the best method of waterproofing. Next, we went to Corby. He told us to make metal stilts for our sign. Originally we wanted to nail it to the tree. We wrapped things up by painting some more. These boards look sweet! Also, we got our first win today so it was a great day on campus today!

Day 08 The Boards Came!

Today the boards came!! They finally came in and they are way nicer than we expected. Thank you so much Mom for helping us out and ordering them! We went to Corby and Greg early today, in order to waterproof our sign, and we did not have much success there. We ran to the package store and grabbed the boards and decided our plan with Corby to go to the studio later in the afternoon and paint them. We showed up around 6:30 and got started on our custom skate decks. They have come out awesome, especially Malcolm's custom style and Billy's sick backdrop! Mines coming along too... don't worry and stay tuned!

Day 07 05/18

Today we wrapped up our sign making and it looks outstanding! We went to Spencer, early, like 9:00 AM to get a head start on our printing. We designed the text and chose Super Smash. It really justified the size and style we wanted and it was funny because Spencer actually downloaded it as a joke originally. Next, we chose vectorized images and posted them on our template. We threw our sign in the bed and started the printing process. We hung out with spencers puppy, played VR, and headed to hang out with ben at the Skatepark. Boards arrive tomorrow and we are going to paint them with Corby! Peaceee.
