Jewett Senior Project

 Today we started our sign-making day at our usual 9:00 AM with a visit to Spencer and his golden retriever puppy in the tech department. We gathered the dimensions for our sign based on the bed of the laser cutter. After recognizing the time crunch, we decided that we need to use the materials available until ours come in. Our boards were re-shipped and arrive soon this week! However, in the meantime, we are finishing our sign, fully dedicated to welcoming all skaters! After gathering dimensions, we went to the woodshop and cut out our 28x18 inch piece of wood, perfect for the laser cutter. Tomorrow we will be programming the designs for our sign, and, while it imprints, we're going for a skate with Ben on our cleaned skating grounds! Stay tuned for our custom skate decks coming soon.

 The first week of our senior project is complete! We have maintained the skatepark throughout the week and drawn out our ideas for the skatepark, cosmetically altered the skatepark, and shredded the skatepark. We have found a good balance of work and play, however, it is still fun to watch the skatepark get cleaner each day. Although our original ideas have shifted (due to shipping), our team has worked together to make the most of our time allotted to the skatepark. Ben has helped us brainstorm every day and helps filter our ideas as well. Without him as a mentor and a fellow skater, we would be at a standstill after week one. Our boards come in to customize Monday and we couldn't be more excited about the ones we get to give away! Our original plan to renovate the skatepark in week 2 and customize skateboards in week 1, has changed due to the decks not arriving in time.  The final day of week 1 of senior project. We are dedicated to making this sign for the skatepark and have the help to do it. I called Jill and she confirmed we could get the supplies needed to make the sign and keep it weatherproof. Then, Malcolm called Greg and we got wood to make the sign for the park. We drew out the sketch and decided to use waterproof spray paint. One of us is going off this weekend to gather those supplies, but Malcolm's sketch is super cool! Our boards were on backorder, so I am reordering them in all black. Hopefully, they still come out dope though! We're excited for these to come in and get after what we wanted to do in week 1.

 Today we got dirty and deep in the crevasses of the Andover Skate Park. We grabbed spades and push brooms from maintenance on our way over in the morning. We decided to get deep in the cracks of the skatepark and really clean it up. As Billy scooped the dirt out, I pushed it down the wall, into the piles awaiting our addition. We took our clips from the days prior and today and made another TikTok of our progress. Our tik toks are the best part of the day since we look at all of our progress and reflect on how much we've changed the park itself. We also talked to Jill and Greg about the materials needed to make our welcome sign and we are now working on that tomorrow! Let's Go! Stay tuned for more updates from CarrSkateTok.

 Today we cleaned the park some more and specifically focused on the pathway to the skatepark. We got up at 9 A.M. and headed to maintenance. We grabbed our rakes and shovels to get to work on clearing the path to the park from the road. All of us got to work to clear it up real nice for the local skaters to find easier. After we completed the path, we moved our leaf piles and admired our hard work. It was really cool to see the skatepark look so much nicer in just 3 days already. The skate park has never been so lively...next up is our welcome sign for the skaters. We're psyched for what's coming up next!

(Before) (After)  Today we started our renovations to the AEMS Skatepark. Ben met us at the skatepark around 9:00 and we grabbed tools from Maintenance to get the skatepark looking new. We raked the debris and leaves off of the ground and watched Malcolm and Ben shred the park. Then we noticed extra pollen and dirt that should never be on the cement for clean skating. Billy and I grabbed the push brooms and got to work on clearing all of the dirt off of the park. With Machine Gun Kelly in the background, we got some serious work done. Next,  we took our measurements of the ramps for our cementing project and figured out the type of cement we should use for the scene. Finally, on the cleaned skate park, we watched some local skaters test her out for us!

 Today, Billy, Malcolm, Nate, and I woke up at 9:00 A.M. to start our senior project. We went to the mailroom to get our supplies, then to Jill for the number of the parks and recreation of Andover. After a call with the Principal of Andover Middle School, we headed over to the shaky skate park to start our renovation plan. It was really nice to walk around today with one focus on the skate park and have no classes to worry about. Our decks come on Wednesday and we're super excited to start decorating those with one extra to give away! We want to make the park really special and available for everyone. Our renovation plan starts with re-recementing the cracked cement currently at the skate park. Then for recreation, we will add a rail for grinding and more tricks. Finally, we want to make the park scooter-friendly as well. We plan to add a ramp/ adjust the ramps there for scooter access as well! We're all super stoked for day two!
